The dates for our next festival will be Friday 1st November - Sunday 3rd November 2019

A message from Jenny … (Festival Director, Jennifer MacLean)

Well … what can I say? I am so glad we had another festival in 2018!! So many friends from so many countries and our wonderful organising team of musicians and friends assembled once again. There’s nothing like a year’s break to make you realise how beautiful Perthshire is in the autumn and what a joy it is to share it. Here's some photos (lots more on the festival website!) taken by our great friend Rob McDougall and some chat about this year's festival! Enjoy...

The drive to Murthly Castle for the first Amber Afternoon Concert in their beautiful Chapel with our wonderfully talented friend Tim Edey was stunningly colourful! Then on our return Dunkeld was alive with music and autumnal feel. And so it went on through the whole 3 days.

All the Cabaret Amber concerts were sold out months in advance and the music was truly excellent. The rich talent and diversity of the musical styles of the Kim Carnie Trio (with Mischa McPherson standing in for a very ill Kim!), Tumbling Souls (with Willie Campbell), Lisa Kowalski, Ryan Young (with his amazing solo fiddle playing), The Coaltown Daisies, Katee Kross & The Amberjacks and Salt House made for hours of rapt audience enjoyment.

The Open Mic was a truly high standard and entertaining and both audiences were full to bursting point and so responsive! the acoustic music sessions which happened in all 4 Dunkeld pubs at the same time on occasion) were a real joy. Dougie and I were both involved in the sessions at various times and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Dougie’s solo concert in Perth Concert Hall on the Saturday night was spellbinding… and many have described it since as their favourite concert ever! Then the Farewell Bash on the banks of the River Tay in Dunkeld House was very special as well. What an array of talent from members of our festival team … Sorren Maclean, Hannah Fisher, Gordon MacLean, Kenny Hadden, Gina Macleod and Alan Jordan, Katee Kross and the Amberjacks …and of course Dougie!! Then there were our special guests Ross Ainslie, Tim Edey, Kim Carnie and Mischa McPherson and Willie Campbell and a couple of Tumbling Souls!

The best thing about Perthshire Amber 2018 was the feeling of friendship and musical enjoyment from beginning to end! … and that’s why we’re looking forward to next year at the same time!!
